Shelby and Bruce have served on several gala committees for numerous worthy causes. They have both served on the board of Houston PetSet, and in 2011 they chaired the Houston PetSet Fierce & Fabulous Soiree. In 2014 they co-chaired the inaugural aniMeals Best Friend’s Brunch for Interfaith Ministries Meals on Wheels program, and also co-chaired CAP’s Bad to the Bone Party. Together with Elizabeth and Laura Stein, they co-chaired the 2012 Celebrity Paws Gala, which raised a record $800,000 for Citizens for Animal Protection. They have chaired or co-chaired events that have raised well over $1.5 million in the past few years.
Bruce is currently Regional Manager for MCM Worldwide, a luxury handbag maker, where he landed after long stints at Baccarat, Saks Fifth Avenue and Foley’s. He is the President-Elect of the Huffington Center on Aging Development Board, serves on the Friend’s Guild Board of the Children’s Assessment Center, and is an advisory board member of the Houston Achievement Place. He also serves on the shared decision making committee at Grady Middle School. Shelby owns a pet sitting services company, “Sit, Stay, Walk, Play”, and gets to do what he loves every single day – caring for pets all over Houston. He has been involved in numerous rescue groups and is currently Co-President of Heart to Heart Rescue, a nationwide pet rescue organization dedicated to finding the right homes for pets anywhere in the country. His passion is helping animals anywhere and anytime!
As a cancer survivor himself, Bruce knows the importance of the kind of research the Scarlett Fund supports. As a partner of a cancer Survivor, Shelby has seen what cancer can do to someone, and they both do whatever they can to help fight the battle!
